China automaker Geely has hired the international public relations agency Communika Mexico to handle media relations in Mexico for Geely’s electric car brands Coolray and Geometry C. Communika associate director Antonio Sanchez tells Radio Formula in Mexico the aim is to position Geely as one of top ten automakers in Mexico. China automakers are making a big push in Mexico and Chinese models now account for 20% of all new car sales in the Latin America nation. Mexico was the leading importer of Chinese vehicles last year and is one place behind only Russia this year, according to data from the China Association of Auto Manufacturers, according to reporting by Bloomberg. China has ramped up worldwide sales of autos and is now the leading exporter, taking first place from Japan.
Communika has more than a decade of experience in public relations, and will handle all media content launched by Geely in Mexico. “Six months ago we began planning our launch strategy in Mexico, up to the moment of the official presentation as one of the strongest and fastest growing Chinese automotive brands in the LATAM region. Last November we presented the company through an official event, as well as the first two models, Geely Coolray and Geely Geometry C, with which we started commercial activities. Communika has participated in this awareness and dissemination of the brand, as well as in publicizing our commercial offer through the media,” Ricardo Gonzalez, Head of Marketing & Communications of Geely Mexico, told Radio Formula.
